Who We Are: Philadelphia Metal, 1999–2013
If you've ever had a riff from Hunter or Iron Gag stuck in your head, you already know why A Life Once Lost still matters. But where did that sound come from? Here's a quick guide from us, for new listeners and old ones.
Where are we from?
We formed in 1999 in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We're also known as ALOL.
Who was in the band?
Singer Bob Meadows and guitarist Doug Sabolick were the core, there from 1999 until we announced our breakup in 2013. The first line-up also had TJ deBlois on drums, Vadim Taver on guitar and Richard Arnold on bass. Over the years, guitarist Robert Carpenter and drummer Justin Graves became part of the story too.
What do we sound like?
Our music is filed under metalcore and groove metal: heavy, rhythmic riffs full of sudden turns. On Hunter, Randy Blythe of Lamb of God joins us on "Vulture", and Iron Gag brought in guests like Devin Townsend and Anthony Green.
